It's getting closer to that time! Christmas it seems is just around the corner, and despite my furtive attempts to avoid the OTT commercialism that started way back in early October (October? I mean really?) I can feel the excitment rising! So now we're well into December and I can appreciate the lights, the carol concerts and nativity plays and love the feeling that christmas means to me; of family and friends and appreciating just what (and who) you have in your life. BB's fabulous handmade christmas card this year absolutly compounded that sentiment for me, when I opened it up yesterday morning I felt all fuzzy inside. What are friends for, huh? Roll on 'New' New Year's Eve......

Well anyway, in the spirit of the festive season and all, and with the intention of dipping my newly found creative toes into the writer's pool out there, I stopped off at one deep breath. This week's (and my first) prompt is 'Yummy', what better prompt for a girl who loves her food, and all those festive smells and tastes.

Yummy

cinnamon swirls, nutmeg
spiced scents spiral upwards-
what festive heaven

Just seven days until the children break up and we will have days of dressing our house and (for the first time) a real tree (yummy pine fresh aroma) and baking mince pies and reindeer cookies! I can't wait..........

Wow - what a great hiaku - you weren't kidding when you said you have discovered you can write. It's excellent!

I am going to have to get one of those angel cookie cutters (or get stencil making!) - so cute.

Burst pipes at school have my boys breaking up a week early :)
I think cinnamon doughnut holes will be making an appearance at new new year - really looking forward to it!

Coincidentally we have our first 'real' Christmas tree this year too, so Si would get a nasty surprise if he tried to hump this one! Yes, it takes at least twenty years for me to let ANYTHING go and that incident was a mere eleven years ago ;)

All your baking looks delish ~ as are your yummy words. Welcome to the wonderful world of haiku ~many happy returns!

(P.S. SO glad you liked the card too :))
